Rose Festival 2011
Dear friends,We have just launched the new holiday program for the famous Rose Festival in Kazanlak for 2011.
The Rose picking ritual is the most attractive event within the boundaries of the Rose festival. Traditionally the ritual takes place in the rose fields of the Rose Institute near Kazanlak. It is interesting that the rose picking day lasts from 4 AM to 10 AM because after that the flowers of the roses loose their qualities. The ritual was reproduced perfectly. Beautiful young women and men, dressed in traditional costumes, were walking between the rose bushes, picking the aromatic blossoms, laying out their colorful rose adornments. The atmosphere was so authentic and exotic and I was very happy to observe this artistic and picturesque custom. Later on, other rose picking groups and ensembles came and general merriment started. The rose pickers were singing, and dancing, performing folklore dances and etudes, related to the roses.
